aluNID® even present in art galleries

The aluNID® aluminium honeycomb core is exhibited in Zurich thanks to ALUCOAT‘s collaboration with Swiss artist Esther Mathis.

Esther Mathis, an avant-garde artist who uses innovative materials in her works, has extensive experience in the world of the arts. On this occasion, she has decided to make the honeycomb core, aluNID®, an important element in her new temporary exhibition. Entitled “Nightshades“, the artist has exhibited works of different sizes in which she has applied spray paint to the honeycomb, creating incredible shadows and effects.

More and more artists and photographers are becoming interested in using aluNID® as a new element for their exhibitions, not only because of its enormous moulding capacity to create new decorative and artistic shapes, but also because thanks to the properties of aluminium, aluNID® has an excellent adhesion to paint, creating unique reflections and original shapes.

In addition, the aluminium honeycomb core is known for its special properties of lightness, excellent flatness, non-combustibility, strong compression and shear and for its particular structure, making it a very versatile material for use in countless applications, which is why artists have turned to it as a new element in their works.

The compromise of ALUCOAT: recyclability and sustainability

ALUCOAT, is an expert in coating aluminium coils between 20 and 500 microns thick. ALUCOAT supplies materials certified as “safe materials” to a wide range of sectors such as food, pharmacy, insulation, construction, among others and in its daily activity contributes to global sustainability, recycling all the aluminium waste generated when coating.

Aluminium is one of the materials presents in the earth’s layer that is 100% recyclable, it can be recycled infinitely many times and it can be re-used without losing its properties with a 95% of recovery rate. As a curious fact, the 75% of all the aluminium produced in the World since 1950’s it still in use*. Another advantage related with recycling is that it’s avoid the emission of an average of 90 million of CO2 to the atmosphere per year*. Regarding the energy required in its initial production to obtain primary aluminium, giving aluminium a new life means an energy saving of 95%.

For these reasons, ALUCOAT, committed to sustainability and the future, recycles 100% of all the waste generated during its productive process of coating. Moreover, more than 60% of our coated aluminium comes from recycled aluminium, minimizing the extraction of new resources and promoting the circular economy.

The “Sunthalpy” house celebrates its first year off-grid

On 16 October was celebrated in Oviedo, the first anniversary of the disconnection of Sunthalpy, the first fully autonomous house installed in an Atlantic climate.

This single-family house has spent a whole year without being connected to the electricity grid and without using fossil fuels, maintaining electricity, hot water, a heated swimming pool and charging an electric car, with sunlight, in a place like Asturias, which has only 2,000 hours of sunlight per year.

Sunthalpy has created the low enthalpy solar building. It is a system of solar capture and accumulation integrated into the building, which is patented at European level and allows to convert into thermal solar panels of very high efficiency any facade or roof material (such as those manufactured by ALUCOIL) being able to cover all energy needs of buildings, even on completely overcast winter days.

Sunthalpy, together with ALIBERICO, through its subsidiary ALUCOIL, a world leader in the manufacture of panels for facades of unique buildings, with its brands larson® and larcore®, are carrying out an integration of their materials with Sunthalpy’s patented solar collection technology and developing the industrialization of this technology that allows buildings to operate with clean energy, without depending on the electricity grid, thus reducing CO2 emissions and with the ultimate goal of creating a world free of greenhouse gas emissions in 2050.

The event, which was held in the house itself, was chaired by Enrique Fernández, Minister of Industry of the Government of the Principality of Asturias and by Belén Martín, Managing Director of ALUCOIL, together with Omar Suárez, CEO, founder and host of Sunthalpy.

GRUPO ALIBERICO PRESENTS IN HUESCA ITS CIRCULAR ECONOMY PROJECT IBERFOIL INTEGRA

The presentation was held at the headquarters of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation in Huesca, with the presence of the Vice President and Counsellor of Industry, Competitiveness and Business Development of the Government of Aragon, Arturo Aliaga.

The project contemplates the investment of more than 42 million euros and involves the creation of 40 direct jobs in a first phase, 75 in a second phase, and 400 indirect jobs, in addition to consolidating the current 110 jobs.

The president of Grupo Aliberico and president of Iberfoil Aragón, Clemente González Soler, emphasized that it is “an essential and strategic project for Spain, as it is the only plant in our country that laminates thin aluminium foil for the pharmaceutical and food sectors”.

Huesca, September 27th – The president of Grupo Alibérico, Clemente González Soler, has presented today at the headquarters of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation in Huesca, in the presence of the vice-president and counsellor of Industry, Competitiveness and Business Development of the Government of Aragon, Arturo Aliaga, the Iberfoil Integra project, which involves an investment of more than 42 million euros and is set to become a benchmark for the Circular Economy model in Spain.

The Iberfoil Integra project, which has been declared of regional interest by the Government of Aragon, involves the design and development of a new plant within the current Iberfoil Aragon factory site in Sabiñánigo (Huesca), which will be equipped with melting furnaces that will be able to use up to 100% hydrogen as fuel in the future and, therefore, reduce and avoid CO2 emissions from this type of process in the current aluminium industries.

The new plant is expected to create 40 direct jobs in the first phase, 75 in the second phase, and 400 indirect jobs, in addition to consolidating the current 110 jobs.

The president of Grupo Aliberico and president of Iberfoil Aragon, Clemente González Soler, highlighted in the presentation of Iberfoil Integra that it is “an essential and strategic project for Spain, as it is the only plant of its kind in our country dedicated to the lamination of thin aluminium foil for the pharmaceutical and food sectors”.

Furthermore, the president of Grupo Aliberico emphasised that “in a world that is becoming increasingly less global and more local, the security of supplies of raw materials will be key for the industry and the economy of the countries”.

The Iberfoil Integra project, which was already advanced by the president of Grupo Aliberico on 17 May, the day on which the third vice-president of the Government and Minister for Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, presented the draft Law on Waste and Contaminated Soil, aims to integrate the new melting and continuous casting factory to manufacture aluminium coils from aluminium scrap.

Clemente González Soler assured that, “although this is a project that will provide greater autonomy and independence to Grupo Aliberico, our intention is to maintain, as until now, the collaboration and supply agreements with Aludium Amorebieta”, the company’s main supplier of raw materials.

The new factory for scrap recovery, melting and manufacturing of 6 mm thick coils from continuous casting, will have a surface area of more than 45,000 square metres, and will be located in an area adjacent to the current plant, whose land was acquired in 2014 by Aliberico after the bankruptcy of INASA.

In the new plant, Iberfoil’s own scrap and scrap from other Aliberico plants and those of its customers in Spain will be recovered by melting them in five furnaces (one rotary, two melting and two holding furnaces), producing liquid aluminium that will feed two continuous casting lines that will produce 25,000 tonnes of coils per year.

Clemente González Soler participated in the Industrialized Construction forum at Rebuild 2021

During these days, the National Congress of Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0, Rebuild 2021 has taken place. One of the most important architecture fairs on the international scene.

This space of convergence is where the leading companies of the sector meet to discuss the future of architecture: innovation, sustainability and digitization for this sector. The President of ALIBERICO, Clemente González Soler, has participated as a speaker in one of these events.

Within the Industrialization forum, under the slogan ‘Industrialization: Road with no return‘, important topics such as the industrialization of architecture, the challenges to overcome to implement industrialization in construction or how the industry can drive the transformation of the sector have been discussed. Also the evolution of materials, the investment in R&D, or the unification and planning of processes as a basis for promoting the industrialization of construction have been conversed.

Developing industrialized construction can ultimately lead to savings in processes, materials and something that is currently of great concern, which is the improvement of sustainability, the reduction of the carbon footprint and the recycling of materials to encourage the circular economy. In this sense, the President of ALIBERICO explained that “One of the fundamental pillars for the success of industrialization is the selection of MATERIALS, which lighten the weight, are recyclable, sustainable and offer high properties“.

The industrialization of construction in the housing sector is a great opportunity that is also accompanied by opportunities in other large constructions such as hospitals, hotels… Something that ALUCOIL® is already working on with its project for the creation and assembly of SANILUX, modular operating rooms and that in the near future, as ALIBERICO‘s President, Clemente González Soler, has revealed for the first time, will be accompanied by the creation of aluminium bathrooms in series.

In ALIBERICO we design today the materials of the future.
